This project is located in the Royal Saint-Hubert Gallery in Brussels. In one of the storefronts of the gallery, I have designed a concept store for Y/PROJECT by Glenn Martens. The design is based on three principles. The first principle is inclusivity. Glenn Martens’ collection lends itself well to this principle as it is unisex. The clothes can be worn by everyone and can also be customized to personal preference or taste. I want to make this clear by displaying the same garment in the left showcase, styled differently from the one in the right showcase. The next principle is of socio-economic nature. As a commentary on online shopping, everything in this store is made from recycled packaging materials. In reality, the walls will also have a cardboard look with a trompe l’oeil effect. Glenn Martens also often uses this in his designs. By reusing all materials from packaging materials and from previous projects (metal grids). This contributes to the final principle of sustainability. The space is divided according to large metal Y-structures, along with other references to his designs.
