W_DR*C4, stands for Willem De Roo and Concept assignment 4. The project involves designing a residency for artists, with a focus on a fashion designer named Samuel Ross. The residency aims to provide a modular living and workspace for artists, adaptable to various disciplines and personal preferences. I used the example of Samuel Ross to illustrate the project, tailoring the residency to the needs of a fashion designer, including the creation of a monochrome collection inspired by the city of Brussels. The design incorporates elements from both AAS Haase Gonzalez and Samuel Ross, such as industrial design, asymmetry, transparency, monochrome color accents, reflections, raw materials, conceptual design, scenography, and light installations. The space features large tables for fabric cutting and sewing, with a bridge serving as a runway. A grid system in the floor allows for modular configurations, resembling scaffoldings, providing various functionalities like private spaces (separated by semi-transparent, orange polythene film, a material on which he based his other brand Polythene), workspaces, storage and fitting rooms, divided by fabric rolls used for his designs.
