For a group project, we were tasked with investigating an existing residential block in the region around the school. The goal was to make interventions to optimize and enhance the livability of this block. What caught our attention was the diversity of styles and the abundance of additions. The most interesting aspect was a modern, cuboid block that was attached to a façade of one of the apartments. We took inspiration from this and designed a block that could also be attached as a parasite on buildings. We placed various iterations of this parasite on the existing buildings. Additionally, we created a larger courtyard with communal pavilions. On rooftops and in courtyards, we added more greenery and introduced some color in the form of balconies to make the overall environment more playful.
