A conventional fiberboard is deconstructed and reassembled into a new form. In this cupboard, paper fibers are bound together with a gelatin-based biopolymer.
The fluted surface, inspired by Issey Miyake’s pleating, creates a translucent skin that lets light pass through while also functioning as a flexible door that conceals the contents.
Magnets allow the door to snap shut or open easily, making it possible to adjust how much light escapes and to take or leave what is needed from the cabinet.
